What a day! Weather a perfect 29 Celsius. Sun out. A slight breeze. Welcome to Rio De Janeiro.

We started our day at the site of the Rio Carnival. The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is a world famous festival held before Lent every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world with two million people per day on the streets. The first festivals of Rio date back to 1823.

We then went to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian better known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro. This is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro. The church is dedicated to Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of Rio de Janeiro. What a magnificent building. People in hundreds of years will be amazed with this building.

Next was the Museum of Modern Art. This building is part of the redevelopment of the dock area in the Port of Rio.

We had lunch at the foot of Sugar Loaf Mountain at Zozo. A great buffet with a particularly nice passion fruit mousse and chocolate mousse. Add in the fresh strawberries.......heaven. We then took the cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain. You may remember this cable car in the James Bond movie, Moonraker. 007 and Jaws fought on the cable car. The views from here were spectacular. I've never seen anything quite like this before.

Back to the hotel in the late afternoon. Great location. Two blocks, turn right to Ipanema Beach, or turn left for Copacabana Beach.

We saw the night out having drinks along the Copacabana Beach.
